Proceeded to Margate and took over command of
H.M. Schoot Caribia.

Left for La Panne and had uneventful passage.
30th May.

Arrived La Panne; beach was covered with troops but transport was slow so proceeded along beach to Brayepicking up troops in small parties and finished filling up at La Panne.

Proceeded towards Trapegeer buoy and soon after leaving a battery at Nieuport opened fire, salvos wide until we left Nieuport Bank Buoy for
Middlekerke Buoy, then accuracy increased so quickly that I assumed the enemy were using the course between buoys as a range so I turned at right angles to course and zig-zagged towards 00st
Dycke Buoy. After 15/20 salvos, of which several were straddles, we were out of range and apart from fog had a quiet trip back to Ramsgate.
