On hight 31st.May and 1st.June 1940, Dunkirk Mole, who averted what would have been a major disaster by preventing troops rushing to part when ship was overladen and starddled

by enemy gunfire, ship took list of 30° but righted herself when Ford got troops moved back to starboard. Undermanned as I was Ford again showed powers of leadership above the

ordinary in getting us away from piers by outting our after moorings and pressing troops into service in getting in bows, afterwards going below to take ship out.
