Reference Admiralty mesuage 2321/1, instructions regarding disposal of tugs and lighters should be amended as follows so far as craft named are concerned:-
(1) Following London tugs which were requisitioned specially for Operation should be returned to

JULIANA commissioned at Chathan on 27th May, 1940.
Commodore-in-Charge Sheerness states that there is no record of her being paid off at Sheerness, that she did not take part in operation Dynamo owing to engine defects and that shipkeepers were placed on board on 31st May, remaining till 8th June, when this vessel was towed away by the tug VESTA for Deptford.

is to be commissioned on 9th June 1940, or as soon afterwards as circumstances permit, as a tender to
H.M.S. "PEMBROKE", you are to proceed to commission that vessel, and to cause the utmost despatch to be used, so far as the same may depend upon you, in preparing for sea accordingly.

I have deemed it desirable, in drawing up my report on Operation DYNAMO, namely the evacuation of the Allied Armies from Dunkirk between 26th May and 4th
June, to deal separately with the work carried out that by the "Personnel" vessels (or transports) in order be sent to other authorities concerned, without copies may the necessity for sending them the full report.

On receiving General MARSHALL-CORNWALL's report I
ordered Air Commodore COLE-HAMILTON - Commanding the Air
Component - to move with two fighter squadrons and his one flight of reconnaissance aircraft to the Channel Islands whence he was to co-operate with NORMAN Force by carrying out reconnaissance tasks and by protecting the embarkation of that Force at CHERBOURG. As soon as he had completed these tasks he was to proceed to the United Kingdom. The remaining Fighter Squadron was to operate from BREST to give close protection to that port during the embarkation of the
B.E.F.
31. At 1130 hours, I spoke to Air Marshal BARRATT, and explained my plan to him. I also discussed with him the arrangements for the withdrawal from LA ROCHELLE of his party, which was defending NANTES and ST. NAZAIRE during the evacuation. He expressed himself as satisfied with the arrangements that were being made.
32. At 1300 hours, the C.I.G.S. telephonedand informed me that the B.B.C. had reported that the PETAIN Covernment had asked the Germans for an Armistice (this was subsequently confirmed by Capitaine MERIC of the French Mission). He directed to getting personnel away and afterwards, if the agreed that, in view of this, all efforts should now be situation allowed it, as much material as possible. He
