288 266 From:- J.L. Bunt, Master "S.S. Queensland". Tilbury Dredging Co. Date:- 5th June, 1940. To:- Naval Officer in Charge, Ramsgate. Sir, In reply to overleaf, my deckhands, W. Absolom, M. Hains, A. Dowthwaite and H. Jones, stand out as & fine example of British seaman;they ferried soldiers across to my ship until these boats were stove in and useless, transferring about 90 men all told. But as regards meritorious action, I recommend W. Absolom and M. Hains for running away lines to another boat full of soldiers and waterlogged, thereby saving them during heavy bombing at Dunkirk at 5 p.m. Friday, 31st May. (Sgd) J.L. BUNT, Master. "S.S.
