A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. Sir, In reply to overleaf, my deckhands, W. Absolom, M. Hains, A. Dowthwaite and H. Jones, stand out as & fine example of British seaman;they ferried soldiers across to my ship until these boats were stove in and useless, transferring about 90 men all told. But as regards meritorious action, I recommend W. Absolom and M. Hains for running away lines to another boat full of soldiers and waterlogged, thereby saving them during heavy bombing at Dunkirk at 5 p.m. Friday, 31st May. (Sgd) J.L. BUNT, Master. "S.S.
