Sir,
I have the honour to report that in accordance with your instructions Ship under my command was expeditiously repaired, guns being lifted and roller paths cleaned and adjusted. The Commander-in-Chief, Portsmouth also authorised the removal of the after set of triple torpedo tubes and the fitting of a twelve pounder H.A. gun in this place and the conversion of the warhead magazine for
H.A. ammunition stowage. Ship also received a lot of plating as splinter protection. Boilers were cleaned and repairs made to engines and hull.
New officers and ratings joined and ship proceeded at 2000 Friday, 51st May to Spithead. Ship's company were drilled that evening and the Pollowing forenoon until the magnetic mines in the entrance had been exploded and the port re-opened to traffic when ship at once sailed for Dover, arriving there at 1750.

February, the following record of the part played by the Dockyard Departments at Dover in the events which took place between 10th
May 1940 and 5th June, 1940 is forwarded.
