Dear sir,
I duly received your letter of the
19th instant enclosing copies of letters to be forwarded to Officers who had command of this
Company's vessels during the recent evacuation from Dunkirk.
with regard to the letter addressed to
Captain Joy of the S.S. "St. David", I have to say that although he was in command of the vessel during part of the evacuation, he was taken ill on May 30th
Letter sent and from that date until the end of the evacuation the vessel was commanded by Mr.B.H. Mendus and I

should feel obliged if you would send me a similar

As a matter of interest you may like to know that on Captain Richardson's letter the initials were shown as L.S. instead of L.T. I have arranged for the necessary alteration to be made but you may like to know his correct initials in case you are keeping a record.
