About one hour for the round trip. Were machine gunned - boat was holed and made so much water 18 had to be beached and abandoned. Joined the EASTBOURNE QUEEN by using & rowing boat found on the beach. Troops boarded MASTBOURNES QUICKN by wading out up to their shoulders. EASTBOURNE QUIXTY took about 40 to the WORCESTER which then (about 1600/1st) went alongside pier. WORDESTER was continually bombed, fragements from near misses killed 3 and wounded several nearby. Laft Dunicist in WORCESTER about 1700/1800. Beach littered with equipment. Pier bombed, beach shelled, sheltered under dereliot boat.
