A note about image and OCR quality

The work carried out by the whole party was most valuable and efficient, consisting as it did of treating casualties, and operating where possible under exciting and adverse circumstances calling for initiative and improvisation. It happened that the Medical party sent to personnel vessels voyaged in those whose civilian crews were showing signs of loss of morale, there being a disagreeable air of apprehension amongst the ship's companies. These Medical parties in the midst of their preparations did their utmost to instil better feeling amongst the officers and men of these vessels. Their conduct in all cases was in accordance with the highest traditions of the Serivce and their profession. Recommendations. OFFICER. Surgeon-Commander William Gordon Fitzpatrick. R.N. With his party worked on Dunkirk Mole, in the ST. HELIER, MAID OF ORLEANS, MANX MAN and the PRINCESS MAUD on successive days. He was the Senior Medical Officer of the whole party from PEMBROKE and showed high organising abilities and leadership, in adition to his efficient personal treatment of casualties.
