Operation "DYNAMO" - Recommendations of Personnel.
H.M.S. FITZROY as Lieutenant-Commander Reginald Arthur Forbes, R. N
This ship completed 4 trips to the beaches near
Dunkirk, and would have completed a. fifth trip but her
D.G. gear was shot away, and she was ordered back.
Specially good boat work was carried out off the beaches, generally in surf conditions, and the ship was frequently under bombing attacks.
Recommendations.

Lieutenant-Commander Reginald Arthur Forbes, R.N.
Showed great initiative and judgment in directing the work of his boats, and also in skilfully manoeuvring whilst under air attack.
Recommended for mention.
Sub.-Lieutenant David Alexander Shaw.
Displayed courage and coolness under fire whilst acting as Navigating Officer. On 2nd June, when
FITZROY was unable to go to sea, he proceeded as a volunteer in H.M.S. HALCYON to Dunkirk, when he gave great assistance.

Midshipman Ian Kinloch Bryce, R.N.R.
Throughout the operation displayed excellent spirit and courage, directing embarkation from the beaches, frequently totally immersed in the surf.
Employed in boats throughout three nights. On 2nd
June proceeded in H.M.S. WINCHELSEA to Dunkirk as a volunteer, where he again did very useful work.

and HALCYON). Displayed great courage and devotion to duty.

Displayed conspicuous devotion, both to his
Stokehole duties and when off watch as a member of a gun's crew whilst under fire. When his own ship was out of action, volunteered and manned a gun in
H.M.S. WINCHELSEA where he displayed the same cool and courageous spirit.

Volunteered and drove rescued mobor boat to hasten embarkation of troops. When the boat overturned he rescued a soldier who was hampered by full kit, and led him to safety on the night of 28th
May. After this he volunteered and manned a boat for further transport of troops.
