Operation "DYNAMO" - Recommendations of Personnel.
H.M. Drifter DORIENTA (Continued).
RATINGS.
Engineman W. Kennedy, R.N.R. ex 369.
Shell damaged and unseated the boiler, blew the engine room with steam and hot water, flooding steam pipe trunks, wrecked the feed pump, filling the bilges, choking pumps with ashes. Engineman
Kennedy S devotion to duty and determination ultimately enabled the ship to steam once more with careful nursing. At all times his conduct was exemplary in circumstances of great danger.
Recommended for decoration.
Engineman J. Smith, H.O.
Stoker J. J. Shone, H.O.
Stoker J. Pirie, R.N.R.
Initiative, skill and energy shown by these ratings under the control of Engineman Kennedy, and their devotion to duty at all times, contributed largely to the ultimate safety of the ship, her crew and the rescued troops. Their conduct was exemplary when the ship was under fire.
Recommended for mention.
