Operation "DYNAMO" - Recommendations of Personnel.
H.M.S. WHITEHALL - Lieutenant Commander Archibald Boyd Russell, R.N.
Between 30th May and 1st June inclusive, embarked 3,400
troops in four trips. On the fifth trip, she sighted
BASILISK out of action and sank her by guns and torpedo fire, being subjected to dive bombing, which caused some damage by near misses.
Recommendations.

Lieutenant Commander Archibald Boyd Russell, R.N.
Showed great initiative and seamanship throughout.
His judgment was excellent, especially in Dunkirk harbour, and in successful avoiding action in the narrow channels whilst being subjected to dive bombing.
Recommended for mention.
Temporary Surgeon Lieutenant James Gorrie Brown, R.N.V.R.
Conspicuous throughout this operation for his skill and coolness. After work in H.M.S. WORCESTER
he was lent to H.M.S. JACKEVE on passage from Dunkirk to Ramsgate attending severely wounded survivors of
H.M.S. MOSQUITO, performing 2 amputations under very difficult conditions. Later the same day he did good work amongst the wounded on board H.M.S. WORCESTER.
Recommended for mention.
RATINGS.
Petty Officer, Cecil Kenneth Souster, D/J.102937.
Carried out the duties of Gunners Mate with great ability. His work in keeping the 2 pdr. pom poms in action as well as in supervising the fighting of the main gun armament was admirable.
Chief Petty Officer Harold Methven Seabrook, D/J.43574.
As Torpedo Coxswain he was continuously at the wheel during these operations, and by his coolness and skilful steering was of great assistance to the
Commanding Officer. In addition he provided "snack" and meals for each of between 3,000 and 3,500 troops survivors of H.M. Ships who took passage in
H.M.S. WHITEHALL.

providing for the fine for example which he set to his quarters -
Was conspicuous military officers during passage and for his devotion to duty in namely - the supply party to after guns.

Chief Engine Room Artificer William Alfred Frederick Luke, D/M. 370+
The cool conduct, zeal, power of command, professional skill of this rating was very noticable and contributed greatly to the efficient running of the ship.
Leading Telegraphist Wallace Eugene Breton, D/JX.135520.
Was in charge of the W/T Department, which functioned perfectly during this period.
Able Seaman George Frederick Sims, D/J. 111898.
This rating ably assisted Surgeon Lieutenant
Brown in H.M. Ships WORCESTER and JACKEVE whilst in his own ship. He also worked continuously from 2100/31
May until 0700/1 June assisting to carry out successful temporary repairs to the D.G. circuits, which had been cut.
