Operation "DYNAMO" - Recommendations of Personnel.
H.M.S. GRAFTON - Commander Cecil E. C. Robinson, R.N.

GRAFTON embarked 277 troops during the night of 27th
May, landing them at Dover 1100/28 after which she returned to Bray beach. Leaving Bray just after midnight with 850
troops on board, she was hit by 2 torpedoes fired by a
M.T.B. at 0250, while lying stopped picking up survivors from a sunken ship.
The stern of the ship abaft the after magazine bulkhead was blown off and the ship's back appeared to be broken.
An hour later, the ship rolling heavily in a rising sea, the troops were transferred to S.S. MALINES and then all the ship's company that could be spared. The remainder transferred later to IVANHOE when GRAFTON was slowly sinking.

Worked indefatigably among the many wounded and with complete disregard for his own safety, visited damaged compartments in the stern searching for wounded before he could possibly have known that the ship would not sink at once.
