A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. WHIPPINGHAM - Lieutenant Eric Reed, R.N.R. from Dunkirk harbour on the 1st June, Embarked troops from Dunkirk beach on 31st May and Recommendations. Le RATING. 'd Chief Mechanician Arthur Frederick Ford, P/K. 21534. When the ship was alongside the pier overladen and straddled by enemy gunfire, troops rushed to port and the ship took a list of 20 degrees. Ford CE checked the rush and moved the troops back to starboard OF thus preventing a major disaster. Ford again showed powers of leadership above the ordinary in pressing troops into service for getting in the brows, cutting the moorings and getting the ship away from the pier.
