Haveng got between 400 and 500 soldiers exboard by 1830 we weighed and stood by Jaba' for half an hour until she had get afloat again and then proceeded to Ramogate by Route with H.M.S 'Gmargne' in company.
Between the Nienport and MiddleKiik burys we were attacked by a German which made two low level bombing attacks at about 300 feet, deopping two bombs in each attack. The fist pain fell about 40 feet from the ship on the starboard side and on the second attack the bembs were considerably closer, the hearest being between ten and fifteen feet away on the part side. Both attacks were made from almost right astern and with all the bombs there was a very noticable delay between their sticking the water and their exploding
The shock of the explosions lifted the engines from their bed, strippeng the threads of the holding-down bolts and breaking one in half. other damage consisted of breaking most of the fillings aft, theouring the compassout by about 20° and internal damage to the gearbox
The aviciaft carried out two more attacks with machine gursonly. wounding Six men. Fuist aid was rendered by the Fuist Lieutenant and Coxswain as the plane delivered his attacks 9 altered course to Starboard and opened the with the Lewis gun.
This was hit in the ammunition pan on the third attack and
Q double feed resulted. It is posible that the enemy
