A note about image and OCR quality

Armed Yacht GRIVE in Operation Dynamo. 10168 Sir, 119401 With reference to Admiralty Letter M.L 6245/40 dated 1st August, 1940, be pleased to lay before Their Lordships the following report resulting from an enquiry into the loss of H.M. Armed Yacht GRIVE on the 1st June 1940. 2. Temporary Sub Lieutenant J.K.B. Miles, R.N.V.R, the senior surviving officer of GRIVE was examined on 29th August, 1940. 3. At about 2230, when GRIVE had just turned on an easterly course and was about 1½ miles from the coast a big explosion right underneath literally blew the ship to pieces and she disappeared in about 8 to 10 fathoms. 4. Although it cannot be definitely stated what was the cause of the explosion it seems most probable that it was due to a magnetic mine. 5. The ship had not been degaussed but work was 1947 in hand when she was withdrawn for Operation Dynamo. 6. In the circumstances nothing was learnt from the loss of this vessel. ARY 7. H. de P.
