11. (111) Destruction of Asdic Gear.
Any method of firing the demolition charge from the upper deck means that it must have been previously 'primed', i.e. the detonator and primer are fitted to the main charge.
To do this by remote control would be extremely difficult and also liable to failure.
2.
With the danger of non-contact mines, near miss bombs, etc., it is considered dangerous to keep a charge permanently fitted.
3.
It is realised that there is a risk of failure when it is desired to destroy the Asdic gear and sink the ship since it may be impossible to get to the charge but this must be accepted rather than endanger the ship to the extent of keeping a charge in a fitted state.

The CBo held by visuls operating in shallows enemy waters are reduced to an absolute minimum compatible will the satisfactory discharge of the operation in hand. Special sto are supplied is for the purpose. Whild the compromise of these books 1 important neverthiless anything which can be done to sakguard them is Northabile.
Having regard to the aballowness of the waters in which the vesuls may be lost the fact that the chests in which the books are stowed are fastened security b the ships structúrs closs not priclude the possibility of compromise.
