A note about image and OCR quality

This ship was engaged in the operations at Dunkirk Recommendation. RATING: stoker 1st Class Bryan Gaughan, C/KX.79268. While SALTASH was rescuing survivors from S.S. BRIGHTON QUEEN, this rating stripped and swan with a line to two men a quarter of a mile away. Finding it a hindrance, he discarded it and eventually rescued these two men. After a short rest, he continued to swim out with lines to men closer to the ship. By his devotion to duty and great gallantry, he saved many men, although bombing and machine-gunning was going on at close proximity to him. Recommended for decoration. H.M.S. SKIPJACK. - Lieutenant-Commander Francis Babington Proudfoot, R.N. (Retired) This vessel did three trips to the beaches and on the 3rd June was sunk. Recommendation. RATING: Leading Seaman Murdo Macleod, R.N.R., 5849D. In charge of Lewis gun on range-finder platform. Showed great gallantry and devotion to duty in continuing to fire his gun after having been considerably shaken by first bombing attack.
