Operation "DYNAMO" - Wecommendations of Personnel - List "A".
RECOMMENDATIONS.
OFFICERS:
Captain Maurice Coppin, Master of the Belgian S.S. "JULIA".
This officer volunteered immediately to take the Belgia:
trawler "GEORGES EDOUARD" 0.86 to Dunkirk. With a volunteer crew he made two successful trips to Dunkirk and embarked 1007 troops and landed them at Dover. He had to wait in Dunkirk Harbour from 0800 to 2100 on the first trip. This officer's beaing was exemplary and he did everything possible to help in the enterprise, and had previously volunteered his services if required.
Recommended for decoration.
Captain Rene Lusyne, Commanding Belgian Trawler "GUIDO GAZELLE"

This officer made two trips to Dunkirk and embarked
403 troops and landed them at Dover.
Captain Rene Lusyne and Hector Annys made the round trip unaided, to Dover, twice to Dunkirk, and finally returned to Dartmouth. Their untiring efforts undoubtedly had a bearing on the success of the operation.
Recommended for decoration.
Captain Fierre Lusyne, Commanding Belgian Trawler "MARECHAL
FOCH" 0.274.
This officer took his trawler, the "MARECHAL FOCH"
alongside the quay at Dunkirk, but the tide was falling and the weight of the soldiers jumping onboard caused his ship to ground. He returned with his one assistant, Ferdinand
Decoster, to Dover in the trawler 0.225, and returned to
Dunkirk the following day. These two men then embarked
300 troops in the "MARECHAL FOCH" but unfortunately when off the Goodwin Light Buoy, their ship was run down by
H.M.S. "LEDA".: He and his second hand, together with

probably 150 troops were picked up and landed at Dover.
When at Dartmouth, Lusyne was working unceasingly to get volunteers for the operation and to get the ships away.

Albert Rooman, Engineer, Belgian Trawler "COR JESU" 0.227.
This officer volunteered to take the Belgian trawler
"COR JESU" 0.227 to Dunkirk and succeeded in embarking 274
troops and landing them at Dover. His ready voluntary service was of considerable value in bringing the operatio to a successful conclusion.

Together with his Captain, Rene Lusyne, this seaman did the round trip to Dover, twice to Dunkirk, and returned finally to Dartmouth. He and his Skipper were the only crew onboard and brought back 403 troops to Dover. His courage and determination were of a high order.

Mr. F. Gooding and two Naval ratings proceeded to
Dunkirk and did 7 trips between the beach at Dunkirk and two transports, carrying about 560 men, after which 40 men were carried to Ramsgate by "LADY CABLE" herself. The seamanship displayed by Gooding was of a high order and his voluntary service had a direct bearing on the success of the operation.
Recommended for mention.

The bravery, seamanship, high enthusiasm and pertinacity of these volunteer Rescuers effected the saving of some 2,500 men of the Allied Troops and are worth of the highest traditions of the sea.
