boats crews, continuously ferried troops under fire until all boats were stove in or swamped. Also ran lines to other boats full of soldiers when in rk difficulties and swamped, during heavy bombing.

Leading Officer Steward Edmund Samuel Lawrence, P/L. 8649.
When KEITH, SKIPJACK and ST. ABBS were sunk during a heavy bomb attack, some survivors were embarked in a steam lighter. Leading Steward Lawrence was conspicuous for his coolness, courage and devotion to duty at all times, and foraged round the wreck for
:o food and clothing, and assiduously tended the wounded on the voyage home.
Recommended for decoration.
Tug FOREMOST 87. - J. Freyer, Master.
This tug was used throughout the operations for purposes of salvage, and in particular for towing barges to the beaches.
Recommendation.
Master, J. Freyer.
Showed great initiative and seamanship under difficult conditions whilst being bombed in towing loaded barges to the Dunkirk beaches, and also in bringing same back again to Dover, and in the salving of damaged craft.
