14. It was decided to wait until nightfall and then sail one of the ship's boats to England. Food and water and dry clothing were available on the wreck.

15. At 1600 approximately two motor lighters and a small motor boat approached the beaches. One camealongside to rescue the survivors from the wreck, the second went inshore for soldiers. The soldiers transferred from the second lighter to the first lighter and the second then proceeded inshore for more soldiers. The lighter then sailed for England.

16. At 1800 lighters were bombed by two enemy bombers but no damage was sustained.
17. At 2400, in the vicinity of the North Goodwin light vessel a tug took the lighter in tow and made for Dover.

18. At 0400 approximately, lighters arrived at Dover and survivors and wounded were disembarked, Able Seaman Randall being sent to hospital.
