A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. (a) It is observed that the torpedo referred to in paragraph 4 above ran on the surface: it is considered that this might be the type of torpedo which will float at the end of its run and act as a floating mine. (b) The E-Boats made full use of smoke, and on several occasions a groups of white stars were seen to be fored from behind the smoke screen. On each occasion of sighting these the ship was manoeuvred so as to avoid any surpise attack from the smoke screen, but on no occasion was the firing of the stars followed by enemy action.
