Sir,
In reply to your request for a narrative of events period May 36th to June 4th, I give the following details:-
appertaining to this Vessel's movements covering the
May 26th. Noon. Left Newhaven for Dover.
3.40 pm. Off Dover.
6.05 pm. Received orders to anchor in Downs.
Remained at anchor in Doms.
May 27th.
May 98th. 2.50 pm. Received orders to proceed to Dunkirk.
2.55 pm. Left anchorage.
7.40 pm. Entered Dunicivie.
8.5 pm. Made fast alongside Pier.
Bombing attacks on Town during night.
No damage or casualties.
May 29th. 7.45 am. Left Dunkirk for Dover. 149 patients on board.
12.45pm. Off Dover.
12.50pm. Received orders proceed Newhaven.
4.53 pm. Alongside Newhaven and proceeded to land patients.
Remained at Newhaven.
May 30th.
May 31st. 9.3 am. Left Newhaven to Dover.
2.25 p.m. Received instructions to proceed to
1.4 pm. off Dover.
Dunkirk, one hour after eSt. Andrew".
8.15 pm. Off Dunkirk Breakwater, signalled
4.42 pm. Hove up and proceeded.
from shore to remain outside.
9.45 pm. From this time, Vessel continuously attacked by enemy mine-laying machines, seven attacks being made altogether.
One magnetic mine dropped by parachute fell just ahead of Vessel, engines reversed to give wide borth. Twenty minutes later mine blows up, 100 feet no apparent damage. Another mine cleared ahead of ship. Vessel badly shaken but ship's starboard side by only 4 feet.
Ship giving headway to clear danger.
This did not explode. Other mines opened fire by machine guns, one bullet dropped astern, but well clear. Machines

0.30 am. to gat contact with shore by
Morse, but failed to receive a reply.
Heavy bombardment of form by German field guna, and being unable to obtain communication or entry, decided owing to anemy attacks to return to Dover for instructions.

8.30 an. Whilst still at anchor awaiting instructions, & violent underwater explosion occurred 20 yards off
