This Officer came under my orders when I assumed charge as Principal Sea Transport Officer, Dover on 23rd May, 1940 for operation "Dynamo". I was very greatly assisted by this Officer's local knowledge and devotion to duty. During the period 23rd May to 4th June, 1940 he was and was only absent for very brief periods for sleep. in almost constant attendance at the Office, His hard work was of the greatest value.
