From 1500 onwards heavy bombing took place on beaches,
Dunkirk and ships during which "Malcolm" was straddled and machine gunned.

Proceeded alongside "Clan Macalister" (she had brought a number of A.L.C's which were then in use embarking soldiers from shore. I had previously ordered her to remain off the beach and fill up with troops) who had been hit by a bomb and was on fire aft. Embarked the soldiers and wounded members of the crew from "Clan
Macalister" and instructed her that she might return as soon as she could get under way. By this time I had approximately 600 soldiers and a number of wounded on board.
