0130 Owing to my misjudgment of distances in the dark was in heavy collision with
Dunkirk Pier with considerable damage to ship's forefect, but making no water about the forepeak bulkhead.
0215 Finally secured alongside. Embarked
1000 troops and proceeded.
0600 Secured at Admiralty Pier. Disembarked soldiers.
0643 Slipped and, after considerable search for oil borth secured alongside Bastern
Are and embarked oil fuel.
1135 slipped.
1630 Arrived Dunkirk and secured Eastern Pier.
Embarked approximately 1000 soldiers.
Soldiers were casing down slowly at this time and demolition stores were put on shore at request of Commander Clouston, acting as Picrmaster, in order that breach night be blown in Pier if necessary to sumblemat beach party to embark in motor boats.
1747 Slipped and proceeded Dover via route X.
1941 Picked up crew (2) of crashed British
Fighter Defiant.
2125 Secured alongside Admiralty Pier and disembarked soldiers. Some delay was caused in landing by the difficulty of disembarking the wounded airman and their disposal.
2346 Proceeded.
turday 1st June
Weather was thick and ship was in collision with French truvier which altered to port when sighted right ahead on opposite course. ship was holed abreast the bridge port side above the water line,
D.O. circuit being severed. Visibility at this time and place was about 50 yards.
0309 Arrived off Dunkirk Pier. Spoke
"Norcestor who was outside lying off.
Entrance was obscured by clouds of black smke. At this time the Engineer Officer informed - that he had used up the water in reserve feed tank and had run down one boiler and anticipated being able to steam for another 20 hours approximately.
0315 Entered. secured alongside Eastern Pier which was crowded with soldiers and DD
other ships alongside. Embarked approximately 1000 soldiers. Soon after this other destroyers and transports entered.
