Decoration. Lieut. Robert Peverall Hichens, R.N.V.R. This Officer landed on Friday 31st.May as a volunteer to rganise the beach at La Panne. He succeeded in getting Yachts moored and grass-lines secured from then to the beach, thus hastening onsiderably and making vastly safer the transport of troops to the aiting Ships. He remained ashore and rejoined "Niger" next day.The eaches were under shall-fire and air attack for a great part of the inc. At 2230 on Saturday 1st.June he landed again at Malc-les-bains 0 supervise the embarkation of troops. He had twice to go into the own in order to find Senior Military Officers and get the troops own to the beaches and boats.
