May 30th.
0005. Twelve Officers of the Army General Staff (Four
Officers of the Scotts Guards, Four Officers of the
Coldstream Guards, and four Officers of the Grenadier
Guards under the command of Colonel E. Mackenzie,
Scots Guards) embarked in Motor A/S Boat No.7.
Awaiting delivery of Secret Hand llessages.
0020, Left Dover for Dunkirk.
0240. Arrived off Dunkirk. Boat was taken close to
Beach One to land four Officers but shallow water made this impracticable. The officers were put aboard a Destroyer off Beach 1 and landed in
Boats. This procedure was carried out at each of the other beaches landing four officers at each beach. Motor A/S Boat No.7 then entered Dunkirk
Harbour to deliver a Secret Hand message to the
Senior Naval Officer, Dunkirk. It was found that
S.N.O. Dunkirk was aboard H.M.S. "Hebe". The secret hand message was delivered to S.N.O. and thirtyeight French soldiers embarked 0725. Motor A/S Boat
No.7 left Dunkirk in accordance with previous orders.
1035. Boat arrived at Dover.
1100. Disembarked French Soldiers.
May 31st.
1135. Motor A/S Boat No.7 left Dover to endervous off
Ramsgate with Motor A/S Boat No.6 to escort convoy of Small craft.
1147. off Deal. Developed a fire on the port Engine.
1203. Fire extinguished. Boat taken in tow by Tug "Doria".
1517. Arrived Dover and commenced repairs.
1730. Repairs completed and Boat placed at half an hours notice.
June 2nd.
1345. Motor A/S Boat No.7 left Dover and proceeding officer to
Block Ships Anchorage, with Navigating of the
Block ships aboard.
1410. Boat going alongaide block ships; Navigating and Officer
1531. to details of movements to block ships.
