Dynoms 360 - 285 FROM:- SENIOR OFFICER 10th M/S. PLOTILLA. DATE:- 21st JUNE 1940. TO :- VICE ADMIRAL DOVER. Following recommendations for decorations and mentions in dispatches during Dunkirk evacuation are submitted. General deportment of the officers and drews under heavy shelling and bombing was splendid, and it has been difficult to make selections. (1) Lieut. Richard Ronald Hamilton Faw,R.N.V.R. (Temp.). This officer was in charge of boats on the basches, and carried out his duties in a splendid nanner. He was left 34 hours at Bray owning to "Sandown" leaving, and was largely responsible for picking up "Xeith's" and "Shipjack's" survivors. Strongly recommended for & decoration. (2) Ideut.William Herbert St.Johm Wallis,R.N.V.R. (Temp.) This officer is first lieutenant of "Sandown", and carried out his duties in a most efficient manner, under very trying circumstances. "Sandown" on one trip carried 900 troops and equipment, which would only have been possible by the most careful disposition of troops, which Lieut. Wallis was responsible for. Strongly recommended for a decoration. (3) Eng. Sub.Lt.George William Alfred Neal,R.N.V.R. (T.124) Chief Engineer of "Sandown". This officer was in engine room all the time troops were being carried, and the extra speed obtained on the return trips is largely attributed to his devotion to duty and efficiancy. Strongly recommended for a decoration. (4) Surgeon Lieut. William Macrarlane Davidison, Royal Navy. This medical officer displayed great seal and devotion to duty caring for the wounded under heavy bombing and shelling throughtout operations. strongly recommended for & decoration.
