Sir/Gentlomen,
I have to inform you that it is desired to assemble the fullest possible information regarding the part played by small craft, such as motor boats, yachts, launches, etc., in the evacuation of the B.E.F.
from Dunkirk, in order that it may be preserved as a permanent record of the gallantry and devotion which were displayed during the operations.
For the purpose of such a record, it is essential to include as much original matter as possible, and it is thought that the Owners of a number of such craft have probably received from the Masters, or members of the crew, reports or general accounts of their experiences which would be of considerable interest.
In other cases the Owners themselves may have volunteered to take their craft over or, if they did not accompany the craft in person, may be acquainted with the volunteers who did so.
It would be greatly appreciated therefore if you as the Owner(s)
of the "COMMODORE"
would be good enough to forward to this
Department, a copy of any such material which you may have in your possession, or which you may be able to obtain from the Master or members of the crew.
