Dunkirk Claims Committee
Meeting held at 11 a.m. on Friday 17th January, 1941
at the Ministry of Shipping, Room 5087.
Present:-
Mr. Allen (Chairman)
" Simmons
" Meredith
H Stokes
" Wand
1. Minutes of Meeting held on 20th December were agreed.
2. Matters arising were discussed:-
(a) "Lijns". Agreed to pay £45 in full and final settlement of all claims outstanding.
(b) "Brywyn". Agreed to pay £57.10.0 for all missing articles and expenses, plus hire at normal rates.
3. Report of payments for period ending 16th January, 1941, amounting to £2,459.18.7 was presented and passed.
4. Agreed that the Secretary shall negotiate with yacht and motor boat owners to settle Total Loss Compensation at the sums suggested by Mr. Barnett as "reasonable to offer,"
with a latitude of 10% increase if necessary.
5. The following cases were discussed:-
(a) "Magnet". Agreed to pay £15 as claimed.
(b) 10 Lifeboats ex British India S.N. Co. Agreed to pay £1,320 as claimed.
(c) 8 Lifeboats ex P. & O. S.N. Co. Agreed to refer back to P. & O. S.N. Co. as to amounts claimed.
(a) "Leilah" and "Rocinante". Agreed to enquire into the possibility of meeting claim from owner of "Leilah" by offering him "Rocinante".
