AA At a meeting with a deputation from the Motor and Sailing as 02 States ship Association, the following proposals were made for settling (s) claims in respect of sailing barges used in this operation:- (1) Rate of Hire. Vessels up to 200 tons dwt. 03 per day Vessels over 200 and as to 150 tons dwt. 24 Vessels over 150 and up to 200 tons dwk. 85 # Vessels over 200 and up to 250 tone dwd. 16 Vessels over 250 and up to 300 tons card. 67 . These are all nett rates, but have had to allow for the fact that, owing to the short period of use, owners WORK unable to claim any rebate for Marino Insurance. Furth owners will not claim any hire in cases where craft were taken up for one or two days and then released without being sent across-channel. The rates suggested are considered reasonable. (2) Compensation for Total LOSS. The ownera' representatives undertook to provide information regarding insured values, etc. of th (six or seven) which were lost. At a subsequent cussion with them, however, the suggestion was forward that two Surveyore should be appointed indepently and give valuations as at time of 10 names which have been suggested are Mr. F. Tall Talbot Bros., Mr. Sparkes, of W. N. Sparkes & Mr. Howie, of Thompson, Lewis, Howie, Ltd.. two firms are Barge Repairers, Builders while the third named are Surveyore, sailing barges.
