USED FOR EVACUATION FROM DUNKIRK (NOTE: TUGS AND COMMERCIAL SMALL CRAFT WILL PROBABLY REQUIRE A MODIFIED FORM OF THIS LETTER). 000 With reference to the use of your vessel (s) in connection with the evacuation of Dunkirk, it is appreciated that in many cases Owners incurred disbursements for oil, stores and gear and, in some cases, provision and payment of runner crews to deliver the vessels to the assembly ports. The Department is prepared to consider claims in respect of this expenditure, which dise should, where possible, be supported by vouchers. In addition claims will also be entertained in respect of any stores, gear or equipment which were on board when the vessel(s) were taken over and are now found to be missing. A number of vessels were returned to Owners almost immediately o-ther as being unsuitable for the requirement. h Uessels which were used have, or are being, returned to their Owners and it is known that in many cases more or less severe damage has been sustained. In all cases Owners may if they so desire, make a claim for the use of their vessel (s) for the period during which they were engaged on this service. Should damage have been sustained the Department would be prepared to consider claims in respect of the repair thereof.
