Dear Sir,
With reference to your kind letter of the 19th
June and our acknowledgement of the 20th June, wherein you enclosed 4 very appreciative letters to 4 Captains of the
Tyne-Tees Steam Shipping Company's vessels who took part in the evacuation of Dunkirk, a rather curious position has arisen.
The Captains of our ships in three instances have been changed since the date named and are now masters of other vessels. The letters are of great value to the
Officers concerned. We have had them framed with the object of hanging them in the particular ships, but the actual master of the vessel not being now on these ships, does not have possession of the letter although it has been read over to him.
We are wondering if, in these circumstances it would be at all possible for you to kindly consider letting us have 4 extra copies for the use of the Masters only. We trust we are not asking too much, and would like your valued opinion on this question.
