TIME.- Vessel made one trip to Dunkirk on the 26th and a further trip on the 28th May 1940 returning on the second occasion with approximately 1,000 troops. POSITION OF VESSEL AND CAUSE OF DAMAGE.- On the first trip to Dunkirk our ship was shelled from shore batteries on the other side, several times, causing holes in the ship's side an on the second trip she suffered damage from shore batteries and also when returning from Dunkirk by several attacks by enemy Dive Dombers causing many holes in the hull above water line and damage to the upper structures including the bridge. We understood that you already had this information through the Admiralty to whom we had given all particulars and details and our Master also called on them at Whitehall in order that he could make a 6 statement.
