'Alice' had to, abandoned as bullets had penetrated the lubricating system, causing a seize up of her engine on attempting to start up,
I flooded her ballast tanks in an endeavour to submerge the ship below bullet holes and thereby flood the engine room. I retrieved
'Alice's' charts and recognition signal tables and with her crew boarded 'Caap Falga', taking over command from Lt. Culmer, R.N.V.R.
who had by this time refloated Caap Falga'.
We proceeded to a destroyer but was unable to inter-sept her, I
thence set course for the Downs.
'Able Tasman' unloaded small arms ammunition at La Panne and proceeded to Dover at 1715.
