A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. Moved further East and enlisted services of a fine motor boat in charge of sub. lieut. Bowie R.N.R we provided him with a grass hawser and obtained an anchor by casting adrift a deserted motor boat that was anchored off. We contacte Britis troops 2 mile further East and with the assist nce of anchor and warp and good scamanship of Sub. Lieut. Bowie we got off a good many. However it was a slow business and early in the afternoon we proceeded to the Pier for troops were arriving there then and as the ships inside us were taking them and could not be full up for some time. we returned to the beach. Bombing by Heinkels was particularly heavy one salvo of three bombs very narrowly missed the ship. By 21.00 we had aboard 4.08 Soldiers and as the Motor boat had lost her anchor and the crew exhausted, I decided to return, and weighed at 21.00 1st. June Arrived and disembarked troops at Ramsgate at 04.00 Was told I should proceed again to Dunkirk if we could be off by 05.30 but Commanding of icer was too exhausted to be ready by then and Pacific was not called upon for further service.
