Weighed anchor in Gore Channel 4. 0 a.m. off Nieuport,
Belgium about 3. 0 p.m.; bombarded by shore batteries;
arrived at Bray, France and asked French Soldiers to
take water ashore for their comrades. They said they
did not require water and jumped on board, letting their
boats drift away. I asked some of them to take boats back
to shore for the others but they did not understand me.
A little later we were informed that B.S.F. were further
down Coast, we proceeded about three miles and arrived off
La Panue, enquired of British Officers if fresh water was
needed, they replied in the nagative, took on board as
many Soldiers 88 we could take, French and British, and
