A note about image and OCR quality

By his initiative and devotion to duty, he was enabled to bring off a large number of troops from the beaches. Recommended for decoration. Sub. -Lieutenant William Geoffrey Hewitt. R.N.V.R. This Officer was continually in charge of the boat work on the beaches being frequently under machine gun and shell fire and bombing attacks. Due to his coolness and courage in encouraging and organising the troops, and to his seamanship, many troops were brought off. Recommended for promotion. RATINGS: Petty Officer Harold Beasley, C/J.93287. Was in charge of boats, and due to his good seamanship no boats were lost or damaged. His coolness, courage and gallantry under fire were of great encouragement to the troops and seamen under him. Recommended for decoration. Acting Stoker Petty Officer Albert George Dollery, P/KX.80017. During the whole period of the operation, this rating was engineer of the motor boat, and due to the efficient manner in which he ran the engine, often under fire, the number of troops evacuated were far in excess of what might have been expected under the difficult weather conditions.
