At all times he displayed exceptional initiative. Recommended for mention. RATINGS. Signalman E. E. Roden, C/D.360. Signalman H. O. Carter, C/SSX.17317. Accompanied the officers when they landed. Behaved with great courage and resource and were personally instrumental in organising the soldiers and handling the boats, and in detailing the military for embarkation. Their initiative and bearing set a fine example to the soldiers, who certainly would have failed to launch the boats without their leadership. Recommended for mention.
