This Petty Officer showed great coolness and powers of leadership throughout, On the order to abandon ship he proceeded with the Commanding Officer and assisted with the correct disposal of all C.B's. Recommended for mention. Stoker Petty Officer James Salter, C/K. 65722. Was in charge of the Boiler Room when the ship was hit. Displayed great coolness and courage. On the order "Abandon ship' he stayed behind shutting off steam and drawing fires, which he did successfully on his own initiative, His conduct was in accordance with the high traditions of the Engine Room Branch. Recommended for decoration. Chief Petty Officer George Arthur Sawyer, C/J.46680. Was Captain of the MPom pom and had worked his crew up to a high standard of efficiency. During the 3/2/20 hours before the ship was sunk, this weapon fired 1600 rounds without any hitch of any sort. He was very seriously wounded. Recommended for mention.
