This barge was one of a number sent up from Portsmouth and completed 2 trips to Dunkirk, being heavily bombed and machine-gunned on the way over and back. In addition, she was shelled from the shore batteries. Recommendation, H.F. Boyce, Master. Showed great determination and devotion to duty in face of heavy bombing and machine gun attacks, and shelling from the shore batteries. Recommended for mention. MASSEY SHAW: - London Fire Brigade Fire Float. Lieutanant Geoffrey Frank Walker, R.N.V.R. All of the crew were members of the London Fire Brigade or Auxiliary Fire Service and all volunteers. Made 4 trips to Dunkirk beaches on successive nights. Recommendations. Sub. Officer Aubrey John May. Auxiliary Fireman Eric Gordon Wright. Auxiliary Fireman Henry Albert William Day.
