A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. With reference to Admiralty Letter C.W. 1427/41 of 17th January 1941, be pleased to lay before the Board the accompanying correspondence received from Lieutenant F. Jordan, R.N.R., concerning the services of the Fleetwood Trawlers during the withdrawal from Dunkirk. 2.- As I had received no report at the time, nor any information concerning the apparently highly meritorious service of these ships, I referred the question to Commander A.J. Cubison, D.S.C., R.N. whose name was mentioned in the account given by Lieutenant Jordan. Commander Cubison's remarks, which draw an entirely contrary picture to that of Lieutenant Jordan, are contained in Enclosure No.2. 3.- I then referred the whole correspondence to the Flag Officer in Charge, Harwich, whose report is contained in Enclosure No.3. I desire fully to associate myself with the action taken by the Flag Officer in Charge, Harwich, in not forwarding Lieutenant Jordan's original report; it is inconceivable that, had Lieutenant Jordan's report been an accurate one, I should not have learnt of the events it portrays either semi-officially or in the course of conversation with the many officers that I have seen subsequent to the operation. Under the circumstances I do not consider that any personnel from these trawlers can be recommended for decoration or other award. 4.- A copy of the enclosures has not been retained in my office.
