A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. As Chief Boatswain's Mate was most active in organising work in embarking troops and a most inspiring influence between decks while the ship was engaged. Recommended for decoration. Ordinary Seaman Gerald Arthur Douglas Rooke, R.N.V.R. SD/X.1581. As one of the boat's crew stuck to his job without relief and displayed fortitude and lack of thought for himself in embarking troops from the beach. Recommended for decoration. Able Seaman Edwin Cecil Holloway. P/J.98570. As gunlayer of "B" gun exercised initiative and worked hard to produce a high state of efficiency at his gun of which he was in charge. Recommended for mention. Petty Officer Steward (Pens.) Arthur Victor Read, P/L.1816. Sick Berth Attendant John Yeoman, R.N.A.S.B.R. X.7093. Francis Montague Davis, Canteen Manager. NAAFI. Were most active in assisting the Medical Officer with casualties, and untiring in their efforts in rendering first aid in difficult circumstances. Recommended for mention. Engineroom Artificer 1st Class, James Barton, R.N.R. Portsmouth 32 E.E. A most excellent example to all in the engineroom preserving a cheerful and imperturbable influence in his department.
