A note about image and OCR quality

Every reasonable effort has been made to present these document images as flat, straight and accurately cropped as possible. SHIKARI made 7 trips to Dunkirk and the beaches between 29th May and 3rd June, evacuating a total of 3,589 troops. The first 3 days troops were embarked from La Panne and Bray beaches, which were generally under shell fire and frequently bombed; the remainder of the time troops were taken from Dunkirk. Ship was frequently fired on by shore batteries, but avoided being hit by the use of smoke screens and zigzagging at high speed. Recommendations. OFFICERS: Lieutenant-Commander Hugh Nicholas Aubyn Richardson, R.N. Handled his ship with conspicuous skill, thereby avoiding damage by shell fire and bombs. Recommended for decoration. Lieutenant John Rees Wilson, R.N. (In charge of SHIKARI's beach work.) His leadership and perseverance were inspiring. Recommended for mention. RATINGS: Leading Stoker Alfred Browne, D/KX.81441. Ordinary Seaman Dominie Kenny, D/SSX.30221. Ordinary Seaman George Park, D/JX.170122. Ordinary Seaman William Lyons, D/SSX.30211. Signalman William Hicks, D/JX.144358.
