After boiler Port side completely wrecked.
Shut off oil supply coming out of main line, shut off after strainer; main oil line carried away.
All emergency valves shut off and S.V's opened.
4. P.O. Cast.
All lights in ship out after 1st. Salvo.
went down to L.P. room to make sure battery was still on. Tent aft and found dynamos out of action. Sent hand to switch in Oldham lamms previously placed tall in place and all worked)
Joined up with party under Gumer(1) and jettisoned torpedoes and denth charges (Torpedoes fired with air levers forward )
Scuttling charges placed on foremost end of
E.R. bulkhead Starboard side against ships side under
Water Level, consisted of 11 1b T.N.P. 2 primers and
2 detonators, Bickford fuse.These were not fired in the end.
5.P.O. Robinson.
Q.Where were you stationed during 1st air attack?
A.With "A" gun.
A.Then you called for volunteers (after Capt. went)
Q.When did you go to Pom-Pom?
Gelhat was ultimate reason why Port-Pom would not fire?
