Concur in D.T.S.D's para.3. It is probable that
Coastal Command were carrying out trials of towed flares
(which burn for 21/2 minutes) on this night somewhere in this vicinity.
2. Aircraft co-operation with M.T.Bs. is to be expected in the following ways:-
(i) Reconnaissance of an area to locate suitable targets, which would be reported by W/T.
(ii) Indication of target by some pyrotechnic signal or flare.
3. There is some evidence of (i) above in the report, but no firm evidence of (11)
