Tug made "R" After that another high bombing raid and tug was not seen again.
Fired two white rockets.
L/Sea. helan.
Q.Where were you in first attack?.
A.In charge of Fore Supply on H.D.
8. hat happened there?
A.No trouble in supply except lights out and torches.
:- hat about Oldham lamps?
A.Mag. crew said they were out of action.
Q.What did you do after that?
A. Continued fore supply until going forward to assist in getting out tow. Supply parties continued fusing and supplying shells to guns. H.E. shells expended
S.A.P. suplied. Last we did untilorder order given to destroy Asdic gear.
Do Then what did you do?
A. Took A/S parts down to cabinet Unshipped all portable gear took it up on upper deck and smashed
1t beyond recognition and then threw it overboard.
Stuff unable to unship smashed with a crowbar.
Unshppped oscillator and took on upper deck left it by guard rail on iron deck amidships, when ship listed over it was below water and cannot say whether it definately went over the side, but beleive it must have elid over ships side.
A/S gear on the bridge unshipped and destroyed returned to M.D. and waited outside T.S. until abandoning ship.
8.P.O. Bradley.
E. here were you in the first attack?
A.At director - firing continued until bombers disappeared - wont round ship to find where she was taking in water.
Found several small holes on the Fort side abreast the F.R. -inserted wooden plugs in those within reach, then finding she was holed below.In placed collision mat.
Tent in fobastle for tow forward.
At "A"X gun for 2nd. raid.
2nd. attempt to tow forward.
abandoned this for 3rd. air raid on focasle for this.
Assisted with supply until I went to T.S. and BSW clock smashed before abandoning ship.
9. P.O. Erskine.
In T.B. for 18t. raid, passed orders from
Control officer to guns.
1st. bomb put out all lights. Switched on secondary lighting and remained in T.3. Could not get into comminication with the bridge so challenged bridge through "B" gun and found "R" bridge still correct. Then I went on fo' castle to prepare to tow.
2nd. raid went downto T.S. again hen I arrived
/hitmore and Ferryweather had broken un F.O. table.
Remained there during bombing, on fo'castle again for 2nd. tow forward. ent down below for 3rd. raid.
ent up on fo' tle and abandoned ship.
