0.5" Mark IV equipments cannot be made available for
SKIPJACK class as all are allocated to Auxiliary war vessels
None the less HALCYON class minesweepers are certainly underarmed. Subject to D.N.O's and D.N.C's remarks it is proposed to submit for approval in principle to alter their A.A.
armaments as follows, positions being prepared for the additional guns as opportunity offers and the guns to be allocated as and when available.
(A) GOSSAMER, LEDA, SEAGULL, HAZARD, HEBE, SHARPSHOOTER,
BRAMBLE, BRITOMART and SPEEDY:-
Add 1 - 0.5" Mark III and re-arange this and existing 0.5" Mark III in sided positions.
(B) GLEANER and JASON (A/S Patrol vessels of H ALCYON Class)
Add 1 - 0.5" Mark III as for GOSSAMER etc.
(C) NIGER and SALAMANDER
Remove forward 4" V in C.P. II and substitute
4" V on H.A. III or IV mounting.
Add 1 - 0.5" Mk. III as for GOSSAMER etc.
(D) HALCYON, HARRIER, HUSSAR and SPEEDWELL.
Remove 2 pdr. II and substitute 2 - 2 pdr on single mountings, sided. Priority for allocation

to be after Corvettes.
