A note about image and OCR quality

R.N. showed great ability in manoeuvering ship and avoiding repeated dive bombing attacks in very restricted waters. After the ship had been abondoned he remained behind to ensure that everything possible was done to save the ship and to destroy secret charts etc. Later his coolness and courage was very noticeable when the St. Abbs was bombed and sunk. Recommended for mention. (Is being recommended for decoration on account of service at Boulogne on 23rd May, just prior to operation "Dynamo") Lieutenant Robert Walker Hughes, R.N. Showed great courage in repairing W/T aerial during repeated bombing attacks. When ship was sinking showed imitiative in destroying signal books and apparatus. After receiving injuries in the Tug St. Abbs his courage and devotion to duty assisted in survivors escaping to Dover for in the wreck of the Clan Mac Allister. Recommended for decoration. Midshipman Harry Batten Poustie, R.N.R. The good bearing, coolness and initiative of this young officer in face of danger was most noticeable. Remained on board to assist with destruction of secret documents. Later assisted in clothing and feeding survivor on board Clan Mac Allister including the care of two badly wounded men. Recommended for decoration. RATINGS: Acting Petty Officer Ernest F. Standley C/JX 137068. In charge of H.A. gun. By his leadership, courage and coolness kept his gun in action during repeated bombing attacks which caused casualties to his crew in their exposed positions. Recommended for decoration The following members of the Pom-Pom crews showed great courage in keeping their guns in action up to the end. Able Seaman Eric Bradley Wilkinson C/JX.152120. Able Seaman Ian A. Nethercott, C/55X 28288. Able Seaman James Wallis, C/55X 27313. Recommended for decoration.
