Operation "DYNAMO" - Recommendations of Personnel.
H.M.S. WORCESTER. - Commander John Hamilton Allison, R.N. (Decorated
for this operation in London Gazette of 7th
June, 1940)
Carried out 6 round trips to Dunkirk and the beaches
and recovered a total of 4,350 troops. During the last
two trips she was subjected to heavy air and shore
artillery bombardment, causing a large number of
casualties amongst the crew.

Lieutenant Frederick Greville Woods, R.N.
Displayed exemplary devotion to duty under fire
and great skill in employing the armament to the best
advantage, thereby being largely responsible for savin

the ship and her cargo of troops during intensive air
attacks. C.O. states that the most satisfactory stat
of discipline and efficiency in the gun armament
achieved in a short time since commissioning, is due
to this officer's good work.

Surgeon Lieutenant Frank Whitwell, R.N.V.R.
Worked unceasingly on behalf of Naval and Militar
dying and wounded on June 1st and 2nd. His conduct
was worthy of the high traditions of the Service and
his profession.

Sub. -Lieutenant Neville Lyon Humphries, R.N.
For devotion to duty under fire and bravery in
constantly firing a Bren gun from the Compass Platforn
while doing this on June 1st he received fatal injurie

Leading Seaman John William Flattery, 131896.
Kept 'A' gun in action throughout the engagement
although a number of the crew were wounded. Was
tireless in assisting the troops to embark and in
tending the wounded.

Displayed marked skill and initiative in
maintaining efficiency of the engine room department in
action, despite death of the Engineer Officer and the
damage sustained.
